Yibin Möbius Plaza

LOCATION: Yibin, China

SERVICE: Architecture, Landscape

YEAR: 2024

The project is a shopping mall with four above-ground floors and two underground floors, surrounded by innovative enterprises and universities, with abundant landscape resources. The designers aim to make the project a city’s hub for extreme youth sports and a new urban landmark where young people frequently shop.

Featuring dedicated spaces for trendy recreational activities, exhilarating e-sports, and a naked-eye 3D screen at the main entrance, it is the place where you can immerse yourself in youth-trend sports and unlock new social scenes brimming with trendy fun. A huge LED dome stretches from indoor to outdoor spaces, showcasing regular audio-visual performances, establishing the plaza as the first awe-inspiring dome with a spiral facade in Sichuan.

By leveraging the park’s landscape resources to the fullest extent, a landscape bridge connects to the western park, serving not only as a traffic pathway for pedestrians but also as a recreational space for sports and leisure, attracting a larger influx of visitors to the mall. Terraces on each floor create commercial outdoor spaces.

The building facade is characterized by fluid lines, establishing connections between layers in both plan and volume. The design embodies a “garden-style commercial space,” incorporating a sunken plaza that blurs the indoor-outdoor boundaries, a themed square ideal for pop-up events or exhibitions, and tiered outdoor landscape platforms.

The rooftop of the Möbius strip is adorned with greenery that harmoniously complements the western park. It can accommodate various activities and serve as a venue for large-scale art installations, open to the public for enjoyment.
